Get tough in tough times!
During these somewhat unsure and tough economic times, everyone is not only watching their expenses, but they are investing much more time in researching the reasons and cost of most expenses especially when it comes to the automobile. With new car prices so high, used car sales a gamble and not necessarily the best option, we have found that more and more people are repairing the cars, light trucks and SUV’s that they already own. The facts are that the maintenance costs on a new vehicle are as much or possibly more than the vehicle you already own. As you all know some repairs are not the fault of the car, and should not be considered as a reason to replace the car. There are some repairs such as brakes, belts, hoses, tires and, batteries that just need to be replaced due to use and time.
As stated before, the average person will now spend the time to research, not only the service/repair and/or cost, but also the facility the service will be done. At Consaul Auto Care, we have always been proud of the fact we are one advanced auto repair facilities in the capital district. In the ever changing world of auto service we have continuously updated equipment, training, parts resources, marketing, and customer service.
As new special tools and techniques are released to us, we feel as though to service our customers properly, they are purchased and put into use.
Participating in training is another area that we pride ourselves in. All too often we see just the same few shops represented and wonder how the other shops stay up to date with the technology.
Our affiliation with some suppliers is another area that strengthens us. We use the buying power and support from a few larger suppliers and some small businesses to provide you with a top quality part at a price that reflects that quality.
Keeping our customers informed and as always a personal relationship with all of them is by far one of our strongest attributes. With reminders, email, informational brochures, this website, the links to companies that represent the products and services we provide, and of course the ability to talk to our customers so they can understand what’s going on, are all part of what Consaul Auto Care is all about.
So feel free to call us, email us, refer us, or stop in. Come join our always growing customer base. If you’re already a customer we thank you and appreciate and referrals you send.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
Save Money - Get better mileage
As you've seen the fuel prices are up and no end in sight. It makes sense to ensure your vehicle is running at efficient as possible.
When was the last time you had a tune up?
How about a fuel injection service? These used to be common services but with longer intervals they have been forgotten lately.
Take advantage of this months specials and incease your fuel mileage.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
Lowest prices = lowest service!
With all of the big box stores and dealerships advertising unbelievably low prices on service work these days, we'd like to remind you that price is not the most important issue. While we do our best to keep our pricing fair and honest, we sometimes get customers questioning our price. We will gladly explain the quality of both our work and the parts we have quoted.
Like everything else there are a lot of import parts the we stay away from due to poor quality and some suppliers due to their lack of standing behind what they sell. Most of our parts are covered by a 18 month, 18000 mile warranty parts and labor. By the way of a nationwide program. So please ask if you have a question.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
Auto Service Plus &
Consaul Auto get even better!
Auto service plus has added another rebate promo for this year. Normally they run 3 promo's per year. Starting Jan.1 thru Feb. 29, we have a winter maintenance promo going on.
There are mail in rebates for timing, serpentine, and V belts, water pumps, thermostats, wiper blades, batteries, starters, alternators and more. As you see we also have in house promotions on some of these products to help save you more.
So take advantage of the sales and rebates and here's to a great 2012 for all of us.
Thank you and we wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
Chuck and Deb
Auto Service Plus &
Consaul Auto
Recently you may have noticed some changes at the shop. We have become an Auto Service Plus service center, and also enlisted our shop in the better business bureau.
Auto Service Plus centers and offer parts and labor warranties on parts purchased through them. We have always stood behind our work and now if a problem does arise we and you can feel confident that you'll be taken care of. The warranty program is for 18 months or 18,000 miles whichever comes first and is a nationwide policy.
Also because we are proud of the work we provide a listing in the BBB was also added. As you know this bureau is particular to the business's it lists.
Another new program is a new mailing company for postcard reminders and e-mailing. While we will also be doing a lot of in house e mails this company is helping us with post cards, and social media coverage.
That's right, you can "like" us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and check us out on Foursquare. Check them out for upcoming specials for each of them.
Thank you and we wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

Technology, your auto &
Consaul Auto
In an effort to stay up to date with the ever changing technology we have invested in the equipment to reprogram and update various modules for domestic vehicles.
Ford, GM, and Chrysler perform this service to correct a variety of concerns, and to correct a number of false check engine lamp issues. Also if a module is defective and needs to be replaced it would have to be programmed.
Domestic is ready now and foreign is coming. We have invested in this because we strive to serve all our customers better than our competition. Sending a car to the dealer is the last thing we want to do.
As always we thank you,
Chuck and Deb
Quality oil and filters make
a difference.
Each year we find it more and more common for every car manufacturer to vary in the recommended mileage between oil services. While it is true the engines in today’s vehicles are designed to go longer between services, we also know that there is a big difference in oils and filters. While cost is always a point that needs to be considered, we have always felt the need to carry good quality oil and filters.
We usually still recommend 3000 miles or 3 months but can always alter this. Many of our customers who put a lot of miles have been switched over to our 5000 mile service.
Keep in mind that with our oil services we always check out filters, belts, hoses, fluid tires, front end, wipers, and visual inspection. When comparing services keep in mind that you probably are not comparing apples to apples.
Any questions will gladly be answered
Thanks,
Chuck and Deb
Fall Check-up
With the summer coming to a close we all have to remember that fall brings a few special services for your cars. Wiper blades will be needed for the fall rain, tires will need to be properly inflated, aligned properly and safe tread depth. Wet leaves can be very slick and a safe vehicle is needed for all of our safety.
During the fall season we will be checking these items along with steering and suspension parts with every service. From inspections to oil changes, check engine lamp diagnosis, and brake issues we are and always have been the areas top facility to keep you and your family safe and your vehicles reliable.
Thanks,
Chuck and Deb
New and Improved - Consaul Auto
We've been busy at the shop both with customers vehicles and working on a new advertising campaign. Starting this month we will be releasing a variety of specials that are geared to save you money on services that will ensure your vehicles stay running safe and reliable.
We will be promoting this website and also be updating all the social media sites we are on. They include. Facebook, Linkedin, Yelp, and Foursquare. If there is another site you might think we could be part of let us know.
Also, with the above we will be sending postcards, and emails to inform you of specials, state inspections, and reminders for service.
The office remodel is almost complete and we'll be working on repainting the outside of the building.
We've been working hard on reprogramming for Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles with a lot of success. We have fixed a number of drivability concerns and check engine lamps that are the result of false codes.
As you can see we've been doing a lot and the reason is that we strive to be the best auto repair facility in the area. All these improvements are to better serve our customers and set a higher standard for independent repair shops.
Thanks,
Chuck and Deb
Oil, oil, oil...
With all the new cars light trucks and SUVs out there, and all manufacturers telling you a different mileage interval for oil service; we have also changed our recommended intervals.
While most of you still fall under the 3 month/3000 mile interval, others can benefit from longer intervals by using higher grade synthetic oils and/or oil additive.
Your vehicles warranty will not be voided and in a lot of instances we can offer a mileage protection plan on your engine, transmission, and driveline through our vendor 'BG'
You can find out more by e-mailing, calling, or asking at your next visit.
Here is a link to the 'BG' website to find out more about their protection plan.
Thanks,

Summertime, summertime!!
Now that we are working our summer hours, we've scheduled to stay open monday thru thursday till 6:00.
To stay in touch with our customers we suggest if you have any questions or need an appointment you can reach us through this site at the ask the tech link, or the appointment link.
Thank you and let's all have a safe summer.
Chuck and Deb
Keeping up with the Jetsen's!
Vehicles all are controlled by a main control module called a PCM, (powertrain control module) Just like your home pc it is run by software. Each manufacturer finds faults or holes in the software that can cause anything from false check engine lamps to harsh shifting of the transmission. The manufacturers correct these issues with a service called reprogramming or flashing. In our effort to be your total car care service center we have invested in the equipment to do most domestic cars and light trucks. Asian vehicles will come soon enough.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
Spring is in the Tire Pressure!
Wow. We’ve been busy and now that the weather is finally turning for the better, people are driving with the windows down and hearing all kinds of noises. As the towns repair all the potholes be sure to have your vehicles alignment checked out. Along with low tire pressure, alignment issues are the leading cause of premature tire wear.
With fuel prices on the rise, when was the last time you had spark plugs changed? Fuel injection service? Air and fuel filters replaced? Even you oil changed? All of these maintenance items if not performed can cause excess fuel consumption.
Call, email, or schedule an appointment on the website and we'll gladly discuss what your car needs and give you an estimate.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
On The Road (again)
New starting this month we are offering a free BG
On The Road roadside assistance card with our synthetic and 5000 mile oil services. This card will reimburse you up to $100.00 for towing, out of gas, or even keys locked in cars. The activated card is good for 120 days and can be used twice. This benefit is offered because we feel as though our maintenance of your vehicle is so important when done properly that we are willing to stand behind our work. You can find out more about this and other BG services we offer at the link on our home page.
Another valuable service is our fuel injection service. With the price of gas going up again and it looks like we'll see it go up more, having your injection system serviced can do nothing but help. Along with spark plugs and filters, we can help you get the best fuel mileage possible.
Call us or email us if you have any questions, or would like a quote, and we'll be happy to assist you. Spring is almost here and we're getting ready for it.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb

New Service!!! Reprogramming!

WE HAVE INTRODUCED A NEW SERVICE AT THE SHOP. REPROGRAMMING. WHAT THIS DOES IS THROUGH THE INTERNET AND FORD, GM OR CHRYSLERS WEB SITES WE
CAN CHECK TO SEE IF THE PROGRAM INFORMATION IN YOUR VEHICLES COMPUTER HAS THE LATEST UPDATE. IF THERE IS
A NEWER UPDATE WE CAN DOWNLOAD THE INFO AND
INSTALL IT.
THIS SERVICE WAS UP TIL RECENTLY DONE ONLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE REASON WE INVESTED IN THIS IS BECAUSE WITH A LOT OF THESE CARS WHEN YOU GET A DRIVABILITY ISSUE, OR CHECK ENGINE LAMP, THERE IS A RELEASED UPDATE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. ALSO A LOT OF ELECTRICAL PARTS SUCH AS CONTROL MODULES, SENSORS AND EVEN SOME WINDOW SWITCHES ALL NEED TO BE PROGRAMMED WHEN REPLACED OR THEY WILL NOT WORK.
AS OF NOW WE'RE JUST REPROGRAMMING DOMESTIC VEHICLES BUT ASIAN EUROPEAN MAY BE IN THE FUTURE.
JUST ANOTHER SERVICE WE FELT WE NEEDED TO GET INVOLVED WITH TO SERVICE OUR CUSTOMERS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY.
October is National Car Care month!

Each October we have specials, mail in rebates, and coupons for a variety of parts and services that fall under the preventive maintenance catagory. These services are designed to keep your vehicle running properly, and most importantly safely.
Something as simple as wiper blades can ensure a safe fall season. Tire condition and proper inflation also are valuable safety services. Lets keep this fall and National Car Care month in our minds.
As always we're doing everything possible to keep you informed of ways to keepyour vehicle running the wqay you want, and need.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb
We can now reprogram your car?
What's next!

We now have auto computer reprogramming available to our customer for all domestic vehicles and most Asian vehicles. Just as the dealer does, we can now reprogram the cars computer to update the latest software. This is done regularly to correct some check engine lamp codes, drivability issues, and whenever a computer or module is replaced. Typically more than one issue is addressed and sometimes the vehicles fuel mileage has increased.
We can typically check your vehicle to see if the has been an update released and if so we'll gladly give you an estimate for the update.
Just another way we're doing our part to be your full service repair and maintenance shop.
Thank you,
Chuck and Deb

Enhanced Oil change Service
At Consaul Auto Care we've enhanced an oil change service that has been growing in popularity. For customers who drive above the average 12-15000 miles per year, we've offered a 5000 mile service. This oil service includes changing the engines oil with 5w20 or 5w30 oil, a new filter, rotate the tires, perform a multi point vehicle inspection, adjust tire pressure, and add BG Moa and CF5 oil and fuel additives.

These additives are like red bull for your vehicles oil and fuel. They contain much needed properties to enhance and extend the life and function of these fluids. Fuels these days are not the same as just 5 years ago. Deposits of carbon are higher and can cause all kinds of drivability problems.

Oils are also in need of extra attention. BG's MOA is a combination of additives that will extend the life of
conventional oil.

If you or someone you know drives a lot have them call for more info and ask about the BG protection plan for your vehicle. You can also click on the BG link at the bottom of our home page.

Deb and Chuck
NEW! New Pricing, Better Deals
Did you know? Now that 2010 is here we are rolling out a new pricing structure for most maintenance services your car needs. Oil changes, alignments, fluid flushes, belts, wiper blades, alignments, and filters will be discounted and promoted monthly. Tires and brake prices will also have better pricing.

All of this is due to to a better buying power with a couple of area suppliers and some local dealers. As the economy in the area has been low, some of the suppliers have closed along with some area dealerships. All of this has casued the remaining to get more aggressive in pricing and we will pass along the savings to our valued customers.

Thanks for your patronage in 2009 and we appreciate your business in the future.

Thank you,
Deb and ChuckBaby it's cold outside!

Did you know, keeping up on your vehicles maintenance has never been more important. During these winter months, people depend on their cars for work, shopping and travel during the holidays. You should be confident that your car will start properly, drive comfortably and safely. The specials this month are a combined effort with Consaul Auto and its suppliers to help during these cold months and tough economic times.

A new addition to our shop is a vehicle "Service Intelligence" report. This report is free of charge to you and will show what maintenance items are due now, up coming, and also services that we have no records of performing on your car.

Stop in, call, or e-mail us for appointments, estimates, or a "Service Intelligence" report and as always have a safe and happy holday season.

Thank you,
Deb and Chuck
The winter months are especially hard on your vehicle. Cold temperatures put additional strain on your cars battery, and the cold fluids also don't flow as free. It takes more time to pump those cold fluids to all parts needed. Potholes, snow, and ice cause other problems.

During November we will be doing our best to prepare your vehicles for the winter months. Battery checks will be done with every oil service, and of course we'll be checking tires and fluids also. Keeping these items maintained and inspected will insure you a safe and reliable winter and holiday season.
Don't for get the wiper blades. We often complain about streaking, and noise while its raining but soon forget when the rain stops.

Stop in, call, or e-mail us to set up an appointment, get some info, or an estimate.

Thank you,
Deb and Chuck
A new service for our customers

Get your car ready for winter and help prevent no starts and break downs during the holidays and winter months. Before we gat too far into the fall season we’d like to be sure that your vehicle is ready for the upcoming cold and snow.

Some items that need special attention are: battery, tires, coolant, belts, hoses, wipers, exterior lamps, and brakes. During the months of October and November we off a free battery check with all oil services done, as always we check the fluids tires and belts, hoses, wipers. There are specials both on the web, in house and supplier rebates to help cut down costs.

Our goal is for you and your family to have a safe reliable and happy holiday season. We’ll do our part to advise you of only necessary services for your car.
Thanks Chuck and Deb
A new service for our customers

Have you ever seen or own a vehicle that the headlamp capsules are so faded that at night you can hardly see? In most cases the problem is due to a UV protective coating that has failed. Normally you would have to replace the headlamp capsules which are expensive and also sometimes time consuming to replace.

A company we deal with (BG see link below) has released a kit to remove the old coating and reapply a new protective coating. The process takes under 1 hour and you'll be amazed at the difference. the kit will cover 1 vehicle and if only 1 headlamp needs it we can also accommodate. While we're on the subject of lighting remember that it gets dark much earlier now and we can replace any lamps that may be out.

Thank you and lets all have a safe winter.
Thanks Chuck and Deb

A/C Systems

A/C systems in today’s cars have improved greatly from past years. Although the molecules of R134a refrigerant are much smaller than the R12 we used to have, leaks have been pretty simple to find and repair. On today's cars with all the electronics for comfort in the passenger compartment we have been seen more issues with the cars computers not allowing A/C operation due to unrelated codes.

As you probably have heard, before all A/C systems seep a little over the years and probably could use a refill once every couple of years. There is no way to measure the amount accurately of refrigerant in you cars A/C system. With the smaller amounts required on cars today it's important to never overcharge a system. The only way to fill a system properly is to perform an evacuation and recharge. This removes all refrigerant and air that is in the system, applies a vacuum which may help to find a leak, and recharge the system with the proper amount of R134A and a synthetic A/C oil with a tracer dye. This dye will flow in the system harmlessly and can also help detect or locate possible leaks.

As always, we feel we are professionals in A/C automotive repairs and look forward to seeing you.

Link a friend!

Besides making appointments, e-mailing questions about your vehicle, checking out specials/promotions, our website has links to products and information services we use at the shop.

One of the main reasons we spend time on internet promotion is that we feel it is the future in marketing, and an excellent way to promite our business to new potential customers. If you know of any friends, co workers, or family members that you feel could benefit from our auto repair facility please feel free to forward the link.

Be sure they let us know who referred them and we'll be sure thank them in our own way.

Thanks Chuck and Deb.

Spent a little, Save alot!!

According to a recent story in USA Today, more motorists are maintaining their current vehicles instead of purchasing new ones because of the uncertain economic environment. However, recent Car Care Council survey results show that 80 percent of the vehicles inspected during 2008 vehicle check events needed either service or parts.

“The current economic situation has people very hesitant to spend money for a new car, instead keeping their current vehicles for longer periods of time,” said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. “Since four out of five vehicles need some type of service, it’s important to remind motorists that those who keep their cars, treat them as valuable investments and commit to regular vehicle maintenance, end up saving a
lot of money.”

Results of vehicle inspections at community car care events across the country during National Car Care Month in April and Fall Car Care Month in October revealed that 80 percent of vehicles needed parts replacement, service or fluids. For example, nearly one out of every 10 vehicles had the check engine light on. The top problem areas were motor oil, windshield wipers, air filters, belts and hoses and lights. Complete results can be found at http://carcare.org/NCCM.

To help ensure the reliability and safety, and extend vehicle life, the Car Care Council recommends these preventive maintenance steps:

• Change the oil and filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or per the owner’s manual. Periodic oil and filter changes keep your engine clean on the inside.

• Check the tire pressure at least monthly, including the spare. Your car’s tires affect its ride, handling, traction and safety.

• Schedule a tune-up annually to optimize your car’s performance. A well-tuned engine delivers the best balance of power and fuel economy and produces the lowest level of emissions.

• Have the alignment checked at least annually. Potholes and other road conditions, as well as normal wear, can take their toll on your car’s steering and suspension. A wheel alignment reduces tire wear, improves fuel economy and handling, and increases driving enjoyment and safety.

• Inspect the windshield wipers and lights on the car. Lights and wipers play a major role in safe driving, and they are normal wear items that need periodic replacement.

Snakes, snake everywhere!

Most of today’s cars and light trucks use a serpentine belt to drive vital parts such as: Alternators, water pumps, power steering pumps, air condoning compressors, and air pumps.

Over time these flat belts develop cracks in the rib area and can dry out on the flat or smooth side as well. When this happens usually the belt has a squeal sound, especially in the mornings, damp days or when the accessory load is high. If these belts break you will lose all the accessories and may cause damage to a drive part or the engine. These belts are usually pretty easy to replace and we stock most of the popular ones. Area suppliers usually have the others in stock and are generally to us within a ½ hr.

Some cars also have a timing belt. The purpose of this belt is to keep the upper and lower halves of the engine in time. The timing belt is not visible unless covers are removed. Each car manufacturer has different mileage intervals to replace timing belts consult the owner’s manual or contact the shop and we can get the information to you. Timing belts are a more labor intensive job and it is usually done in less than a day. This belt is very important and if the belt fails can cause engine failure requiring replacement.

Please feel free to call or e-mail the shop for an estimate to replace serpentine or timing belts and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Clean It Up!

All automobile engines produce carbon deposits. These
deposits form from oil and gasoline vapors in the in combustion chambers and also coat the intake manifold/ air plenum.
This carbon robs the engine of fuel and volumetric efficiency.
As these deposits form, they act as a sponge, absorbing fuel until it is soaked. This action causes extended cranking time, and rough idle wit a cold engine. The air plenum/intake manifold also builds up this carbon and reduces the air flow
in the engine, causing rough idle and stalling.

Today’s cars have computers to control the air fuel ratio, but do not understand what this carbon build up is. After compensating for a while the check engine lamp may come on with a fuel ratio related code.

Fuel system servicing is becoming more and more important these days on all makes and models. As a basic rule of thumb, approximately every 25-30k miles a basic fuel system/air induction cleaning should be performed. If its been longer a more aggressive service may need to be done. A full blown out fuel system cleaning really only needs to be done if there is a problem with one or more fuel injectors causing a misfire.

Check your maintenance records and if its been a while, or never been done, contacts us and we can advice you as to which service your car may need.

Be Prepared!
September brings with it the thought of summer being over, and finishing up everything before winter. Fall is also the time to start getting your vehicles ready for winter. Besides the normal maintenance, during the fall we check all vehicle batteries for available cranking amperage. This lets us know how close the battery is near its end. The average battery life is 5 years, so if your vehicle is a 2003 or older its time to start considering replacing it.

Coolant is another aspect of winterizing your car. Temperature changes and time deplete the corrosive properties of antifreeze and can cause electrolysis in the cooling system. Radiator, heater cores, and water pumps can all fail prematurely due to this electrolysis.

Belts, hoses, tires, and even wiper blades are also paid extra attention to during this time of the year. So if you are due for an oil service soon or just need to get ready for winter, take advantage or our fall inspection, and any in shop, web, or other advertised specials.

Thanks Chuck and Deb

Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.

As you all know maintenance on today’s vehicles is more crucial than ever. Changing your cars engine oil is probably the single most important service to perform. That’s why at Consaul Auto
Care, we take oil service very seriously. We perform more than just and oil change, we provide you with a 3000 mile service.

As a regular service we change the engine oil and filter, fill your engine with the proper amount and viscosity oil, visually inspect the cars belts and hoses, check brake fluid, automatic transmission fluid, coolant level and condition, check the cars air filter (in most cases), check and set the cars tires pressure and tread condition, inspect steering linkages, and windshield wiper condition.

As you can see, the value of a 3000 mile service at our facility is not your average oil change. We believe strongly that vehicle maintenance is the best way to a cars longevity.

Making sure the proper oil and amount is being used is a key part. Overfilling engine oil is almost as bad as the level being to low. The engine oil seals can be pushed out and leak due to excess pressure in the crankcase, leading to costly repairs. Oil viscosity is also very important. Most of today’s cars require 5W30, 5W20, 15W40, 5W40, or full synthetic oil.

Checking the tires, belts, hoses, and other fluids is proper vehicle maintenance just as it was years ago. Long ago most drivers checked their oil, fluids, and tire pressure themselves, but today’s cars are designed much better and we’ve all stopped checking these items.

So if the shop who services your vehicle does not offer or does not perform a 3000 mile service, please cal or e-mail us for information on your vehicle. As always we are happy to help you with service or information for your vehicle.

Thank you,
Chuck and Deb

Shopping for a repair shop you
can count on.

There are some repairs such as brakes, belts, hoses, tires and, batteries that just need to be replaced due to use
and time.

The average person will now spend the time to research, not only the service/repair and/or cost, but also the facility the service will be done. At Consaul Auto Care, we have always been proud of the fact we are one advanced auto repair facilities in the capital district. In the ever changing world of auto service we have continuously updated equipment, training, parts resources, marketing, and customer service.

As new special tools and techniques are released to us, we
feel as though to service our customers properly, they are purchased and put into use.

Come
join our always growing customer base. If you’re already a customer we thank you ad appreciate and referrals you send.

Tire Pressure - not just a
lot of
hot air.

As the price of tires is at an all time high and will only go higher, it is important to insure that you take any necessary step to get the most miles out of your cars tires. As stated many times before the single most important step is to run the correct tire pressure. Each vehicle has a label indicating the proper pressure for your car, light truck or SUV. This label is usually located on the drivers side door jamb or pillar. The owners manual should also have the recommended pressure. A common mistake a lot of motorists make is they inflate tires based on the maximum pressure stated on the tire itself. As the speed of the vehicle increases the temperature and tires pressure also increases. If the pressure is set too high initially, when the tire warms up the tire now is over pressurized and possibly unsafe. Low tire pressure will wear the in and outside edges of the tread, while over inflated will wear the center of the tread.

Alignment, balance, steering linkages and suspension all also play a very important role in vehicle handling, safety, and tire life.

The purpose of shocks and struts is to maintain contact between the road and tires. As they gradually wear your tires have less contact with the road, and cause a “bouncing” feeling when bumps and dips are driven over. If your vehicle has over 50,000 miles and uses shocks or 80,000 miles for struts, they are probably due for replacement.

Steering linkages should be inspected regularly due to the safety concern. They are directly responsible for alignment angles and their adjustment. Loose, worn, or broken parts in
this system is not only linked to premature tire wear, but can also be very unsafe.

Tire balance is the use of weight on the wheel to compensate for out of round tires. If you feel a vibration while driving that increases or feels more intense only at certain speed ranges, your tires balance should be checked and corrected. Quite often customers complain of this right after a tire rotation. This is due to the fact that the rear tires were out of balance and now that they are on the front you notice it.

At Consaul Auto Care, we take the above services very seriously. During oil change services, brake work, and most under car work we perform a visual inspection of tires and steering linkages as a courtesy t oor customers. We feel that it’s a large part of our job to help insure a long safe and reliable life of your vehicle. As always safety for you and your family is also of the utmost importance.

Thank you
Chuck and Deb.
Get Gas – Save Money – Be Happy!

With gasoline prices at an all time high and no signs of it lowering, we'd like to educate you on saving money at the pumps.

You've probably heard that a well maintained vehicle, correct tire pressure, and safe driving habits will increase your fuel mileage. While it's all true, something you may not know is that all vehicle engines produce carbon and gummy deposits due to oils and fuel composition. These deposits form in the fuel tank, lines, intake manifold, valves, injector tips and in the cylinders. These deposits cause all kinds of problems on today's injected cars. Longer cranking time on start up, rough idle, sluggish performance, and lower miles per gallon to name a few.
At Consaul Auto Care we provide our customers with 2 options of fuel system service. First we have a maintenance service that cleans the fuel supply and delivery system, and air induction cleaning. This is meant to be used as a preventive maintenance service every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.

The second service also includes a process where we disable the cars fuel pump and run the car attached to a machine where the engine runs on a high detergent solution. This service is mainly for cars that have a misfire or excessive carbon deposits due to a faulty system.

Don't forget air and fuel filters, spark plug replacement also. These play an important role in overall vehicle performance.
Please feel free to e-mail or call us with your vehicle info and we'll gladly advise you and provide an estimate.

Thank you,
Deb and Chuck

Consaul Auto Care has gone GREEN!

We are doing our part to help the environment and our community. We have installed a waste oil furnace and recently improved it to heat not only the 3 bays but also the waiting area and office. This has cut down our natural gas usage by at least 80% or more. The unit can burn any grade oil from gas or diesel engines, all types of transmission fluids, brake fluids and gear oils.

We cannot burn coolant/anti-freeze, but we do have a recycling company that processes and resells it to large fleet companies and to metropolitan areas such as New York City where the laws state only recycled coolant/anti-freeze can be sold.

Another GREEN service from Consaul Auto Care is the elimination of lead wheel weights used for tire balancing. Concerns about lead and the environment prompted 3M has released a new lead free composite weight that is environmentally safe.

These new composite weights have other benefits. Aluminum or magnesium wheels have a clear coating on them for protection and easy cleaning. The old lead wheel weights have steel fasteners that can chip the coating on the wheel and also cause a slight leak at the bead of the tire. The new composite weights are self adhesive.

These are just a couple of ways Consaul Auto Care helps do their part for your neighborhood, community and the environment.

Consaul Auto Care has always strived to provide the most professional, honest, and reliable automotive repair and service facility in the Capital District. |
